In our school district it is required that a student gets atleast 95% in reading and math to be eligible to be tested for Magnet and 90% for gifted for both fall and spring tests.

My daughter got 99% in math and 94 % in reading in both fall and spring test. They tested her for gifted test (COGAT) and she scored 7 points. Normally 3 points will qualify her for gifted and 6 points will qualify her for magnet.

As she scored so high on gifted, I am thinking why school district - magnet program co-ordinator should not consider her for Magnet. She tells me that there are no exceptions for eligibility criteria and 95% is kind of minimum % that they always insist to be stick on.

Is there really a way out for us to get her on the magnet program? Really only 1 percentile on reading should affect her development so much?
