Well, the teacher meeting went well. Turns out she didn't finish the math section of her Cogat test. She is VERY meticulous about things. Processing speed on her Wisc IV was lower than all of her other scores as well. So, it seems to be a speed thing rather than an ability thing with the math. She was close to qualifying on Math.
The teacher told me that next year if she does GT math, they will be doing 5th grade math, basically a year ahead. So, it will be like getting a skip without doing an actual skip. She also said that if I send in all of her testing data, she'll pretty much get an automatic waiver to GT math, probably no questions asked. The GT language arts is basically enrichment using children's literature, which dd will love.
She also encouraged me to sit down with the gt teacher for next year. She said she really is interested in gt kids, and will be fascinated by dd. Sounds like a perfect situation. Hopefully it will turn out to be as good as it sounds.
