We've been homeschooling for three years now. Although, a lot of people don't count anything before age 5/6. (I think it's because they don't have children like ours!
)
Tangent - I'm one of those people.
It's got nothing to do with whether or what the kid is learning. It's that until you hit your state's age of compulsory education, you don't have to comply with whatever homeschooling requirements your state has. To me, teaching your kid when you aren't legally required to do so, is parenting, not homeschooling.
It's a semantic issue.
