Just thought I would start a new thread for those of us doing the 2010 National Novel Writing Month.

    DS7's goal is 1,000 words.
So far he is at 226 words and only in his first chapter. He has only written during one, 1 hour sitting. I think he made his goal too small. smile

    Anyone else have updates?

My DS7 made a goal of 800 words, is at 289 so far. He's only written for 30 min (15 min twice on two separate days). I'm pretty sure he made his goal too small as well! However, this was as much a lesson in self-confidence as writing, so I'm excited that he'll likely shatter his goal!

I'm impressed your DS can write for one hour. I do not think I've seen mine do anything for an hour straight, besides sleep!

My DS 4th grade is shooting for 5000 words this year. He is at about 1700. I hope he doesn't burn out too early! He actually loves it. I think he gets out all his aggression out online. He's writing some spoof on Lord of the Rings.

Some year I'm going to do it too!

DS8 hasn't started yet, although he says he wants to do it this year. I am up to 7774 words as of yesterday, haven't written anything yet today. By the time I meet today's goal, I'll be ahead of where I finished last year--so far, so good!

DS8's goal is 3,500 words. So far he has written over 800 words. DS6 first refused to participate but then decided to join as well. He hasn't set up any goal which I am perfectly ok with. He has already written over 700 words.

I try to have them write every day. That's what DS8 did last year and I believe he will stick with daily writing this year as well.

    Good luck to everybody.

DS6 set a 533 word goal. I think he's at 60 words so far. Unfortunately, he's sick, so he's not feeling a lot like writing. We may have to adjust his goal (not sure if one can do that or not). DS8 didn't want to set a goal until he was able to measure how hard it was to write x# of words. He's at 150 so far. It's pretty funny to see their different writing styles. Apparently, DS8 thinks more (and more and more and more) descriptive is better.
