Does anyone know where I can find some of the more intricate lego designs for a more reasonable price? I've looked on e-bay, but those seems to be about the same or if not higher than the retail? I keep thinking there must be a mountain of old lego somewhere - probably close to Mt. Missing Socks! DS is turning eight soon and lego is his passion. Just to make the whole cost issue even more annoying he likes to build and keep rather than build/break-up/build again - very frustrating!
Second-hand or new would be fine.

Did you try to look on ebay?

Some of the listing sell legos by the pound.

I saw 10 lbs for less than $100.

Try Craigslist (local to you and elsewhere).

I live in California, and once got an Aladar (dinosaur) costume for my eight-year-old from a guy who'd posted an ad on the Seattle Craigslist. He was happy to mail it to me.

I don't believe there are any good consistent sources for cheap Legos - maybe a store going out of business. Ebay is pretty good. Garage sales possibly. Legos just don't ever go out of style. Good luck!

I was going to suggest Craigslist too. That in yard sales ... there has to be somewhere these legos go to die! How about consignment shops? They might have something.

I agree about pricing. It shocks me how expensive legos have become.

Thanks. I'll try Craigslist some more and let you all know if I find any great deals out there!
