On Tuesday night our governor hosted a series of discussions about Transforming Education in Kentucky. The panel was asked about gifted education and the Ed. Commissioner answered that what gets measured gets done. He went on to say that our state testing will include a new measure of growth since NCLB only looks at proficiency. I've been a big proponent of this as key to improving gifted education so I was pleased to hear this is in the works. Just wanted to share the good news and hope similar initiatives are in the works in other places.
