I promised to get my newly 3 year old DD a watch. She told me she needs one so she knows when we are going to come to pick her up from the daycare. Recommendations for a waterproof watch which would be easily readable for younger kids?

Given what happened to my first few watches, I'd buy the cheapest you can find.

You may need to put extra holes in the band if it's not small enough - my parents did that on one of my early ones.

I think I had one when I was a kid. They say it is durable but I wonder if any of you have had one?

We bought one like this for DD last year and it really is the easiest on to learn to tell time on.

Harpo likes this one; he hates anything around his wrist (he had the boys' version of that Timex, and the elastic strap drove him mad), so this works well for him. It may be a little more than you want to spend for a three year old, though.

Well, I can't make that clickable for some reason; it's the carabiner clip watch from Lee Valley Tools (it clips to your belt loop).

Katelyn'sM om, thanks for the recommendation. I wound up buying that watch in a different graphic design.

The Flikflak ones look good too. In the end I wound up buying the Timex partially because my son is nuts about glowing watch faces, and partly because I liked the learning-friendly design. But the Flikflaks have at least one advantage, in my opinion: they have the minute numbers up to 55, instead of reversing and counting down to the hour.
