We just got a new book A Little Book of Language by David Crystal. I got it because DS7 is continually asking for the origins of words and phrases, and I thought it would help me with that. Well, I didn't expect him to dive into it laughing with glee! I tried to find the post where people were talking about kids asking for dictionary definitions of basic words to tack this post onto, but I couldn't. If my son is any indication, this would be perfect for all those kids wanting more and more information about language. I highly recommend it! Nan

Thanks for this! I've run out of anecdotes to explain when DS(also 7) asks about the root of words.
