My 2nd grader came home today with a packet of all his test scores for the year. I've been searching online but am baffled as to what some of this stuff is and what it means. I've looked at hoagiesgifted, but don't see good explanations. Does anyone know where I can find information on inview and raven?

The inview scores are given as percents (he was 99 on quantitative and 74 on analogies). This matches his personality, which is very math oriented. On raven, the sheet simply gives me benchmarks based on age and then his raw score. He's well above the benchmark, but I have no idea what "benchmark" means.

    Can anyone help?

Sorry- no answer from me- just a vent!!
Why do these places send home these scores with no explanations!!!!!!! ;-)
I am in the same boat as you- clueless. Our biggest problem is that we are worried about learning disabilities with our child. His ability scores were amazing! His achievement- not so much and they were all over the place. There is a huge discrepancy between his achievement and ability. We are trying to get someone to explain them to us and what steps we should take next. If I were you, I would start by asking the school counselor or psych to help explain them or even the gifted program director.(we can't stand the school psych here- so trying to avoid them right now)
    Good Luck

You can go to Hogies Web page and type in "test benchmarks and get list of resources to acess the information about what benchmarks are. Good Luck!
