We are going to two weddings soon and I would like DS2 and DSnearly5 to learn more about weddings/ marriage etc. by reading books about it. I have found it very hard to get good books about. Most talk about flowergirls. I have found one called "Horrible Harry and the kickball wedding" but was wondering if anyone else has found some other ones.

    Great Idea -
I don't know of any specifics, try searching Amazon, in the Children's book department for 'marriage folklore'

We always did really well in the folklore section of the library!

When her teacher announces that he is getting married, Lilly the mouse sets her heart on being the flower girl at his wedding.

Lilly's big day / by Kevin Henkes.

Check out his other books too.

Oh I just reread your comment about the flower girl. Well this may not be exactly what you want but you might enjoy this author.

My kids are going to be in a wedding at the end of summer. I will be interested in others suggestions. You are a good Mom to think about this.

Thank you for the great ideas - we will head over to the library this weekend and see if they have the book and what they have under the marriage folklore section.

I was also wondering whether there is a nice movie for the 2-6 age range that covers marriage/ wedding more than the "they got married and lived happily thereafter" level.

Milly's wedding / by Kate Summers

    Weddings / by Ann Morris

I just found these two in a library search. I have not read them but they look good.

    onthegomom,

Thanks for these suggestions, I will see if my library has them, too. I found a few more myself.

"D.W. thinks big" by Marc Tolon Brown (this is part of the Arthur series)

"Log cabin wedding" AUTHOR: Howard, Ellen (Amazon review sounded good)

"Here Comes the Bride" by Beatrice Masini and Anna Laura Cantone (also good Amazon reviews)

"The Just-Right, Perfect Present" by Frances Kennedy and Sheila Aldridge (no reviews)
