This is a follow on from my post in the success stories thread regarding an award at the university for two young gifted students.

    http://www.theherald.com.au/news/lo...maths-degrees-at-university/1814184.aspx

    and a more extensive story

    http://www.campusdaily.com.au/read_university_news.php?id=1760

It has received positive publicity, and somewhat extensive, here which is always nice to see. I will be outing myself and I don't go much on the quotes but it is a small price pay. grin

This is wonderful to read! It's a real celebration of the success that can come when students are allowed to work at their own pace when something interests them. You should be very proud!

Thanks for sharing that, it's good to hear! Sometimes it seems we hear a lot more about the younger children here, which is understandable, but it can make one wonder what happens to these children later. I've just been having a rather difficult email conversation with an ex-teacher friend who is convinced the others will have caught up with my similarly mathy DS6 in a few years, so this was well timed :-)

    Mmmm....Vegemite.LOL.

Dr Tao sent the boys a personal message for the presentation which was just lovely. Matt was surprised and quite chuffed at the gesture as was I.

Well I must say I was shocked when the story made it out of the papers and onto TV and radio. Very nice to see, just a shame these sort of stories aren't more widely reported.
