Hello I became new to this post in January after searching for for answers on how best to avocate for my ds7. He is a happy boy but quite bored in class no very bored. I would like to have him tested but I'm having trouble finding a qualified person to test him I would like someone recommended but I keep coming up empty handed. I spoke to his teacher and she has been giving him enrichment worksheets and is allowing him to work on a report based one of his interest His teacher has expressed that he is very differnt than other children and its is obivious he is very advanced.
He is a fast learner. so the repetition of academics that my public schools does is rough for him.I spoke to the Gate coordnitor in my district and unfortunately Gate doesnt begin in fourth grade and they just dont seem to give me any door ways to walk through. My teacher keeps expressing to me he's only 7. His school officials say all they can do is keep giving extra work at his level. This has worked so far until I noticed that he doesnt always do the extra work Why? he wants to be part of the class he doesnt want to be differnt I respected that and let him be just be 7. he is often sad. He wants to be involved in group discussions about so many topics but its obivious that some of these topics just go right over his peers little heads. I know I can requests an IEP I can get free testing but I rather do private. I always been a bit shy and it seems like the school is just stereotypes me as a pushy mom. And It sometimes they makes me think I am. Honestly I dont care if he is gifted It's a difficult road. My 13ds just had an IEP because he had been having some dificulty in school and he tested 145 iq and high in everything else except his visual process was 85 and motor process was an 75 I'm still trying to figure it all out but this explains his troubles .Even with My ds13 I don't feel they were thorough
    we left the
meeting so confused thats why I would like to start ds7 with a private psych. Any Sugestions or in put?
    Thank you
