Anyone tried Fish oil for the ADHD symptoms?

Anyone figured out if it's safe from PCBs?

Anyone figured out a does for adult sized people who hate fishy tastes and like to swallow medium sized pills?

    Thanks in advance,
    Grinity

We use fish oil for SID. It seems to help regulate mood and sleep: we notice if we forget it for a few days. We're using Nordic Naturals Omega 3-6-9 Junior, which is chewable and lemon flavored. The capsules are definitely medium sized.

For what it's worth, the bottle states that the fish oil is third party tested and has no detectable levels of PCBs, dioxin, or heavy metals.

For this product, the vitamin E content would be your ceiling on how much to take because there's some reason you are not suppose take too much vitamin E, (like bleeding or something?)

But, Nordic Naturals have other products that are just fish oil (so no vitamin E problem) and our DAN doctor says there really is no max dose of fish oil. I don't know how big the capsules are in the other products, though.

    Best wishes,

    Coelacanth

You should not get fishy taste with any good quality brand like Nordic Naturals or Coromega. The quality brands have the testing information on their website. My suggestion would be to start with Nordic Naturals because they have a good reputation and we've had no problem with their products.

My Mother is allergic to fish (and too many other things) and takes Flax seed oil instead. Here is an article from the U.of MD that she forwarded to me a while ago. http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/flaxseed-oil-000304.htm

It does say to "Talk to your doctor before giving flaxseed oil to a child under 18." I don't know why. I haven't read the article in its entirety.

I have given my son L'il Critters Omega-3 Gummy Fish before [2 gummys = 200mg "omega-3/DHA blend"]. They are sugar-coated and taste too good...very much candy-like; but he doesn't have ADHD symptoms...I thought it may help with some allergies. So, I have no idea about if they help ADHD. I seem to recall another thread on this about a year ago, but could be wrong??
