We have hit the wall with the Jesuits. They don't have anything to teach DD and she is definitely getting bored. She spells words all the time, does math all the time: multiplying the rows and columns of her nail brush while in the bath.
Since we moved in Sept, we could not get her in the zoned school (NYC situation...but it is one of the best zoned schools in the city, with chess after school etc.) We think we save the tuition with the Jesuits, and the hour commute everyday and pay for a math tutor to teach her the math grade she can do. I have a relationship with one of the key G&T people in the city and this school is one that may be cooperative.
Still looking at other options, but considering this.
Anyone tried this? We also will supplement with the Science and Nature program at the museum. We figure, reading is reading. She loves going to the library and goes through a lot of books so we are not worried about that part. She is already supplementing her own curriculum with spelling words in her head and using the dictionary. But math is the tricky one. In order to get her into a super good gifted middle and high school, the math has to be supplemented.
