My DS9 went to his 2nd Chess yearly tournament. He was so excited he talked about this for a month ahead of time.

He used a plan to checkmate in about 5 moves. He beat 2 kids in a few minutes. Then he was beat by what he called a slow moving player who used up so much time he didn't have time to win and she won by points.

When it was over he felt disappointed he beat the first two kids so quickly and there was no one else to play. I was proud he realized he loved the play more than the victory. I'm also thinking he needs a more challenging situation soon, where they time the turns. The benefits of playing Chess are wonderful.

He starts Chess Club at school next week with above grades kids. I'm so excited for him.
