Seriously frustrated with this process already and I haven't even gotten to the IEP yet! Thankfully my state has guidelines that have to be followed and it has still been a pain.

    Over the last month....

I've had a senior person in the LEA tell me that he didn't pass. He did, as I kindly pointed out to her based on the state's criteria.

I've had that same senior member tell me that her pupil apprasail person said that he isn't exceptionally different from his peers. This person that hasn't actually meet him. I had him tested outside the school system.

And most recently told my IEE was incomplete because no teacher interview was done; The teacher that actually knows him wasn't able to give the interview due to cancer.

All this seem to be tactics to get me to drop the idea that he needs the gifted program!

I have since gotten the teacher interviews completed with his current teacher NOT recommending gifted as I suspected and his old teacher of 3 years saying ABSOLUTELY he needs gifted. I turn in the IEE by Friday and then should get my IEP meeting within 30 days. This should be fun!

Anyone out there with experience with school systems in Louisiana?

Me, me...I'm not sure where you are. I'm in Lafayette and extremely frustrated too! Would you like to send me a PM and we can talk about it? My DS is 5 and is in gifted but that's not saying too much smile
