    http://www.math.jhu.edu/~wsw/ED/pubver.pdf

This small informal study by two JHU math professors partially addresses a question I asked in another math education thread regarding whether or not calculator use is beneficial for K-12 math students.

My kids attend two different high schools with two very different philosophies regarding calculator use.

Does anyone know whether selective universities generally allow calculators on their math placement tests for new freshmen?

How about specifically for math/science/engineering students?

    Thanks.

    Thanks Dottie and Kcab.
The information about MITs placement test is especially helpful.
