I was just reading a little local independent newspaper and came across this:
    http://www.theind.com/content/view/4994/30/

I haven't heard about it in the main newspaper nor have I gotten any sort of letter about it. I'm going to compose an email to the board of education and possibly my state senator tomorrow. This would be so, so sad if it would pass.

Have any of you ever had to deal with this? Have an email you sent to a representative that you'd like to share?

Oh I hope not. I was in a wonderful gifted program in Louisiana growing up! I know Louisiana has a pretty strong GT program throughout the state. I can ask my mom about if she has heard anything as she works in the school system. I'll get back with you.

The best thing you can do is look into your local state gifted association. Our state had to go through this during the past year and we bombarded the state senators office with emails, phone calls, and letters. The more voices they hear, the more likely you are to bring about change. Just expalin to them why it is so important to keep gifted services and what cutting them would do.
