    Hello,

Just wondering if any one has any good resources for elementary materials, etc that we may be able to use to sort of supplement what is..or shall I say, what is NOT going on in the classroom.

    Thanks in advance!

What level of material does your child seem ready to handle? Middle school textbooks very colorful nowadays, and if your child isn't ready to read them by themselves, I think that they would make good jumping off points for discussion. My son had one in 6th grade about ancient civilizations that he would have loved as a 2nd grader. DK publishes mini-encyclopedias that are also very good.

    Best Wishes,
    Grinity

I guess more information would have been helpful!! She is in the second grade but reads on about 4th grade level. Likes history, reading in general and also math. We are in the process of figuring out what to do w/ her at school (subject accelertation, etc)but was just wanting resource to have for her at home in the meantime. She reads a ton and maybe that is enough?

    Thanks,

    Betsy

The Magic Tree House Books by Mary Pope Osborne are great for history kids. You can get the supplemental Guide Books to go with them. My DS7 just loves them. We've checked them out from libraries all over our state. Discovery Streaming videos are great too.
