All you in Indiana-Get your gifted kids on track early for the Indiana Academy for Sciences, Mathematics and the Humanities.
It is a residential setting for gifted Juniors and Seniors on the campus of Ball State.
My oldest son is there now as a Junior and LOVES it! He feels like he had been held hostage at his home high school and has been allowed to go home to his own planet! ALL the kids there were the odd, smart kid at their home schools.
We have known about the Academy since he was in 3rd grade, so have made sure that he was ready to leave home as far as responsibility, maturity, etc.
It was hard to let him leave home 2 years earlier than most, but it is obviously where he belongs academically and socially. I can only be happy for him, and plan to send my other kids there.
Admission is by application-minimum 1500 SAT to apply (3 sections) but I think the average for the Juniors this year is more like 1700.
