The next tour of The Davidson Academy of Nevada will take place April 15.

Taking a tour provides the opportunity to hear from current students and Academy parents, familiarize yourself with faculty and staff, network with others, and ask specific questions. If you can't make this tour, please consider visiting our next one on Friday, August 6, 2010.

RSVP is required for these tours. If you would like more information, please email explore@davidsonacademy.unr.edu.

We are going to DA tomorrow and Friday our kids (two) will be doing the assessment test. I am excited and worried. What if the boy does not get in? He is 13, and I am at the end of my rope. I am tired and exhausted trying to keep up with them for the last three years. I felt like the guy in the Reading Rainbow, "I can't hold on any longer...." He is doing Chemistry, biology...black hole. Can someone spare some encourage?

Hopefully all will be well. If not, community college really fits some gifted early teens well.

It was our second time to go to the tour. This time grandma and a friend wanted to see the school and also, my DD8 was having a change of heart about going to DA. she really did not like the idea that she will be leaving all her friends and that Daddy will not be going if she is accepted. So we thought maybe a tour will change her mind. after the assessment, she told us that she did not do very well. I don't know what to think, she told me she forgot how to do percentage problems. She was VERY good at it. Arrrr!!! My son was happy about it. There were 12 students, one returning for the second assessment, he was told to work on his writing a bit last year. All of them finished a whole hour early. one 9 year old, most of them are in the 11-13 years old range.

((hugs)) Vivace! My guess is that if she actually did do well on the assessment that once she hears that, she might feel more positively. Encouraging that there was one returnee.

Well, not a thing we can do now. Actually, I am ok if she does not go this year, I can still handle her for another year. It is my DD13 that really needs to go, he has outgrown me for a year now. But whatever happens, we trust that it is the Lord's will, and we will be happy whatever the result. Thanks for the bugs, I needed it.
