I thought it would be fun to hear other peoples ideas for organizing there kids for school so they can be responsible for their stuff. I think my kids are doing much better this year in the morning. I'm trying to teach them to do as much as they can so I'm not the one making sure their HW is in their back pack for the next day and stuff like that. Anybody want to share their tips.

Here is a tip from me. My kids wear uniforms and gym clothes twice a week. The clothes are laid on days of the week shelves so they don't have to look for stuff in the morning and they know what to wear. When they get a note dress down day they switch out their clothes after HW to prep for the next day.

When we were doing school - we did the same thing with the clothes....I also made a special laminated sheet that was attached to his backpack...we used our digital picture and took pics of his daily planner, his homework folder, his snack, and his drink container......so he could look on his laminated paper to help remember what was supposed to go in his backpack each morning and he used it as well when at school and was packing up in the afternoon to go home.

Hmm...if DS had the laminated picture, that would mean he actually had his backpack and we'd be ok! Our problem last year was he kept forgetting his coat or boots at school or leaving his backpack on the bus. No trouble yet this year, but it's only the first week. smile

In the mornings, I have all his stuff ready for him myself because he would forget his head if it wasn't screwed on tightly. I don't see this changing before college.
