Older DD's 8th birthday is approaching. She has a DS but a smallish number of games. Wondering what some of your kid's favs are. She loves puzzles of all sorts. But her current fav is Cooking Mama. wink

There is a puzzling/problem solving game she might enjoy:
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
    DS game

If she likes the one mentioned above, then keep an eye out for this new one that will be coming out shortly: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

I wondered about the Layton game but someone said it might be "too hard". They have a younger kid though. Hmmm.

Is Nintendogs different from the Petz type games? She doesn't like those very much.

That's a really good one, momx2! DS8 and I really enjoyed Professor Layton. Can't wait for the new one to come out!

Here are some of his favorites:

    Brain Challenge http://www.amazon.com/Brain-Challen..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250107772&sr=8-1
    Neves http://www.amazon.com/Neves-Nintend..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250107883&sr=8-1
    Wordjong (Great word puzzle!) http://www.amazon.com/Word-Jong-Nintendo-
    DS/dp/B000SH3XGS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250107974&sr=8-1

He is currently into Sim City DS. http://www.amazon.com/SimCity-Ninte..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1250108193&sr=8-1
This is more like a simulation type game than puzzle/problem solving, but he is having a lot of fun creating and managing his own cities. (Good practice for his organizational skills! wink )

One of my nieces really likes Picross for DS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picross_DS

It's a type of puzzle I'm not familiar with, but looks cool, called Nonograms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonogram

My ds9 mostly likes the racing games, MarioKart and Speed Racer, and also Star Wars is a big hit, but I must admit only MarioKart seems to have appeal for the girls.

I finally allowed my ds7 to have a nintendo ds this summer, because he is traveling a lot (he flew alone to norway!)

The nintendo was actually borrowed from my father... why my father had a nintendo ds is another question. Apparently he had it to keep his brain cells moving, and the only game that came with the nintendo was called Brain Age.

It's about as exciting as it sounds, but my son still hasn't figured out this game is not cool!
