i just found out that my DS7 will be given the InView test to determine eligibilty for the second grade GT program. Does anyone know how it compares to a Wechsler? He did very well on the VCI and PRI of the wechsler with a GAI of 138 but poorly on the working memory and processing speed parts so his FSIQ was only 119. I am wondering if he would even have a chance of qualify with InView. any info appreciated.

    Hi,

My son (12) had taken the InView in 5th grade and the CogAt this past fall (7th). I believe they are quite similar as they each attempt to measure verbal and nonverbal (quantitative is included in nonverbal on the InView) reasoning abilities.

I cant comment on how they compare with the WISC as my son has only taken the SB, but all three cognitive abilities tests yielded consistent percentile ranks in his case.

With a GAI of 138, maybe your DS7 could qualify as gifted, but with some kind of LD because of the working memory and processing speed. Has he been evaluated by a psychologist? Maybe that would be a good idea so you could argue that he should qualify.
