Last year they let teachers write recommendations. This year they just collected them in GBRS. I don't think you need to have your son re tested because he did super well.

I would include work samples. Also you can look in his file if you want.

Just put an appeal. Put in the WISC scores and the new certificates/work samples. I am 100% sure he will be accepted. I know atleast 6 kids from last year who got rejected and then later accepted with an appeal. Don't lose hope. I amvery sure he will get in.

Maddy thanks for the sweet note.

IV is the highest level from 3-8th grade I believe. I don't think I'll put in WISC because he got 98th on NNAT and 90s in COGAT but only 88% in WISC. I was a little disappointed because instead of a psychologist I had a first year grad student administer the WISC.

Yes Dottie they should have more for the HG kids and that was how the program started. Up until 1993 you needed a 140+ to get Level IV(not sure what that would transate into today) and 130+ got Level III pullouts in the local school. I think they should have left it alone because it so broad now that it must be difficult to serve those who really need it.

Meg, Did you read the comments from the GBRS? There is a comment field at the end. Do you think you could address some of the issues they addressed? The specialist told me the GBRS for an average child are 4 overall.

Your son tests well...and is obviously very bright...Perhaps the WISC and some additional work samples would help.

    Best of luck!
