    Hi,

Does anyone have experience with SIG (Summer institute for the gifted)?

My dd9 usually takes CTY for summer, but we may be doing SIG this summer instead.

My dd9 is going to her first session at SIG at Bryn Mawr this summer, so while she is "in", she hasn't actually been there yet. I'd also be interested to hear any past experiences with this program!

bianc850a, could you tell me about your dd's experience at CTY? That was another place I was considering for mine...

    Hi Walkington,

My dd really liked CTY science last year. I was going to sign her up for summer again this year but the class she wanted to take (Robotics) is for 5/6 graders and my dd is in 4th for homeroom.
Even though this is considered a math course; they only require 5th grade math; and my daughter is already doing Algebra, they would not do a grade exception because of her age. There wasn't another class she wanted to take at CTY so she decided that SIG would be more fun.

Overall, CTY was very good for my dd last year. We may go back next year when she qualifies for Robotics if she still wants to do it.
