We'll be moving there this summer. I'm doing my own research, but was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of the system, schools, gifted programs, etc?

    Thanks.

Not sure what island you are moving to, but I have heard good things about Assets School on Oahu. As I went to find the link I see that the head of school has recently changed. I don't have first-hand experience with the school, and have only heard specifically about Ron Yoshimoto (former principal) and his work with dyslexic students with the Orton-Gillingham method. I have not heard anything about the part of the program geared towards gifted children, but it may be worth checking into.

Thanks. I've found Assets online and already received some info in the mail. It looks like an amazing school on paper and we'll do more checking when we get there, but I figured we should check out the public schools as well. Unfortunately, what we have heard about public education in Hawaii hasn't been too positive.

    Thanks for responding.
