I am wondering if anyone is aware of research supporting grouping gifted students together in one classroom versus the cluster method of putting a few gifted students in each regular classroom?

Our school district has moved to the cluster method and cited research saying that "all students learn better this way." As any parent of a gifted child knows, one teacher is not able to meet the needs of slower learners along with gifted children. The gifted children end up getting extra worksheets or homework, but no real encouragement. I am hoping that if I can provide school board members with research showing that grouping with peers is the best method for developing gifted students, they might reconsider.

Thanks for any recommendations.
