    Just curious...
Is is possible to get a DYS qualifying FSIQ without hitting the required DYS numbers in any of the qualifying portions? For example, on the WISC IV, could someone score a FSIQ of 145 but score <145 on both Verbal Comprehension and Perceptual Reasoning? Similarly for the WPPSI III (150+; with VIQ and PIQ <150) or the SB V (145+; with VIQ and NVIQ <145)? I hope I am wording this so it makes sense. Thanks!!!

The kid with 16s is probably easier to approach the school with as needing special service, as s/he is probably going to be better suited for grade skips than the spiky 18/19 kid.

Just my knee-jerk response, apropos of nothing, Dottie. wink

I have a separate score question. The subset scores you're talking about with your hypothetical all 16 kid must be scaled scores, I'm assuming. But how do they get the scaled scores? I am looking at DS's SB-V raw score data compared with scaled scores, and some of the raw scores are higher than scaled, and some are lower, and some are the same. I am admittedly slow with numbers. Is there a formula for each subsection that includes age?

Thanks Dottie. I get it! Great explanation, thanks. I just couldn't figure out why the raw scores were so erratic, but now I get it.

Thanks for all the wonderful explanations.
I guess its safe to say that if a child scored a DYS qualifying score in both FSIQ and one other eligible section (such as VC or PR for WISC IV; VIQ or PIQ for WPPSI IV), it would be safe to assume that child is indeed bright. Again, the GT denial seeps in... I still vote for HG+ rather than PG labelling...or PG lite!
