How can 10 year old 5th grader test for Young scholar program? We couldnt find psychologist to test for Wiat / WJ etc ability tests in Texas . Looks like talent search tests by duke to take PSAT 8/9 are discontinued. What are our options? We have our public school tested scores like Cogat and ITBS . Scored highest possible 99 percentile in both but looks like these scores are not accepted for young scholar program. Please advice Thank you.

Not sure what kind of supports you are seeking for your child, but you could also look into Johns Hopkins U's CTY program. They accept the scores you already have for access to programming of various kinds.

According to the College Board's website, it looks like they are hoping to administer the PSAT 8/9 this coming school year, so you could also contact your local school district about that. They were cancelled this past school year because of COVID, not permanently. (Duke doesn't administer them directly, so what TIP does is irrelevant. These scores are also accepted by a couple of other talent searches for gifted students, including CTY.)

There are quite a few private psychologists in Texas who can administer the wisc. If you’re not sure who to trust, you might ask your pediatrician. I believe Hoagies might have a list on their website as well.

Deep135 - Have you looked at the Hoagies Gifted Education webpage?
There is a link dedicated to psychologists administering tests to assess for gifted. https://www.hoagiesgifted.org/psychologists.htm
These psychologists would be expected to be familiar with the DYS eligibility and testing criteria - https://www.davidsongifted.org/gifted-programs/young-scholars/admissions/eligibility-and-testing/.
