Following kickball's sensible advice, does anyone know of good testers in New England? DS is 4.2 now, and we are planning to have him evaluated sometime in the late Spring before entrance to Kindergarden. Feel free to send recommendations by PM.

Have you checked the Hoagies list? http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/psychologists.htm

Please forgive me if I already posted this link for you sometime in the past, BBD, I post this every time someone asks the question. smile

Thanks, Kriston. I have checked the Hoagies list, and in all of New England there are only five names (including none at all in either CT or ME!). I have done some further checking on the ones among those five that are most convenient, but nobody jumps out. In any case, I'd like to hear about personal experiences. As DS gets older I worry less about needing to have a tester with extra special ability to relate to little kids. But still, that would be a plus.

    I hear that!

BTW, if you find someone you like, please e-mail Carolyn at Hoagies and request to have the tester added to the list. I did that when we found a tester we liked, since there was only one person listed from my area--and that person is 2 hours away! Now our tester is on the list, too, so others won't have to search like we did.

    Thanks! smile

I have a tester in Southern Maine that I can share in a PM if you are interested. I have referred her to various people online and she is experienced with gifted children. We had two wonderful testing experiences.

Yes please, Crisc. I've never gotten a PM, but I'll look forward to figuring out how to retrieve it.

    Crisc,

Can you share that name with me as well. My DS9 has never been tested as we have gotten the level of accommodation from his school he has needed without it, but I would like to have some formal results "in the file" if we ever need to take stronger advocacy efforts.

    Thanks.
