    I have the first kit presented, the Motorized Mechanisms kit. It's a good kit. It was the field kit last year for the Junior First LEGO League. I think it's worth the money especially if you're getting a good discount.

    DS8 started with this set "Motorized Simple Machines Set" when he joined a Lego class when he was 6yo. We didn't buy it as it was so expensive here. Subsequently, they added the "Pneumatics Activity Pack" (shown as out of stock online) to show how things can work without the use of motors. HTH.
