My 6 year old daughter took the Wisc V last week and these were the results:

    Verbal Comprehension : 130
    Visual Spacial:132
    Fluid reasoning:140
    Working memory:117
    Processing speed:103
    General Ability Score: 140 / 99%
    Full Scale IQ:132

What's the difference between "General Ability Score" and the "full Scale IQ "? Is she gifted ? We don't have any options where we live for gifted students. She goes to Montessori which has help but it doesn't seen like enough for her. Any other ideas ? She reads and does math about 2 years ahead right now.

    Thanks !

    Welcome!

The Full Scale IQ includes not only measures of thinking and reasoning, but also measures of efficiency (working memory and processing speed). The General Ability Index does not. Many gifted ed researchers consider the GAI to be a better measure for this population than the FSIQ.

Yes. The available data would indicate that your DC tests in the gifted range.

Yes. That is the formal number for her IQ, however, the GAI likely is a better description of her real thinking and learning ability, as her ability to produce relatively easier work quickly and efficiently is not currently at the same level as her ability to solve complex problems. This is not unusual either for GT individuals, or for young children, who often don't have the fine motor skills to match their thinking skills.

So you could reasonably describe her iQ as either the FSIQ number or the GAI number. Both are in the gifted range, though one is more commonly considered MG (moderately gifted), while the other is often considered HG (highly gifted), depending on whose classification system you use.
