DD14 has qualified to take the test to take this class as a freshman. Has anyone's kids taken the class? What can you tell me about it. I know its the first of 2 classes for a Capstone diploma.. what does that mean lol.

    TIA,

The college board has information about all AP classes. My daughter didn't do it. Her magnet teacher suggested not doing it. I know she had a couple kids at school take it. I'll let you know what she said. Depending on the PSAT 8/9 scores there are probably other AP courses she could take.

She just missed the cut for AP world history. She wants to take it, so she is asking her social studies teacher for the recommendation. She has no interest in AP computer science. Those are the only 3 Ap classes for freshmen.

At our high school, which is different from yours (nicolesdad) due to the block schedule, she will have freshman foundations and give up a study hall to get the 3rd elective.

They used let you retake certain parts of the ACT Explore but switching to SAT they don't. AP World History is popular though I'm sure why you need s higher score than AP Human Geography which my daughter had. As to the AP seminar they really pushed that two years when my daughter was choosing classes. I got the impression that if you took the test you were in. It didn't appear to be a popular class at her school.

American history, chemistry, French, and calculus are subjects that can be studied at the college level, so AP courses in them are plausible.

I looked at the "AP Seminar" description online, and I don't get it. How can a "seminar" be an AP course? Seminar on what? Looks bogus to me.
