My DS8 has been dealing with perfectionism and anxiety that has gotten markedly worse in the last 6 months. He has been on a painful downward spiral. We had him tested to confirm the Generalized Anxiety Disorder and understand his full profile.
Although we don't have the full report yet, the pysch told us his cognitive scores were fairly even and moderately gifted with achievement scores from 95-98%.
What surprised us is that he failed miserably on the fine motor tasks. We see none of this in real life. He has great handwriting and is a talented artist.
My questions:
Could anxiety have impacted the fine motor testing? Did he get nervous when he saw the novel tasks of the grooved pegboard?
How much does anxiety impact testing overall?
The psych said he was very anxious throughout and anxiety colored his experience in everything he did. My poor kiddo. Like many of yours, he is highly senstive, intense and perfectionistic.
