Just read an article about a year ago that said Subject Tests will be eliminated. Don't know if true or not.

Do you have a URL to that article still? That is a little worrying, if true.

Don't have URL. It was more of an opinion piece but article pointed many Colleges are getting away from it. I'm sure other know more than me on the subject.

My personal experience with taking the SAT many times is 30 years old. That said, I took it at least every year from 8th grade through 11th, and I think there may have been a year when I took it twice, because I think there were five lines on my old SAT record when I ordered it recently. I still got into MIT (twice, in fact, because I didn't go there as a freshman but transferred in as a sophomore) and RPI, the only places I applied. (I was already accepted to UC Berkeley, so I only applied to places that I would rather go to.) Maybe the applicant pool has increased so much that no one is looking at when you take it any more, but I wouldn't bet on that. The colleges know about CTY and other organizations that encourage kids to take the test when they are young.

Since we are apparently similar ages the ACT was the test. The SAT was obviously around but from what I have seen it more of a East Coast West Coast thing. As Illinois as changed to a SAT required state that has changed things. Also MIT was never happening in my case. 5 seems like a lot for me. I cant see my daughters scores improving that much

My SAT experience is also decades old, but I seem to recall that I took it four times, annually from age 11 until I matriculated into college. I did not apply to the likes of MIT, as I wasn't equipped to live away from home at the time, so I have no idea if this would have affected admissions.

Also, if you have CTY SET qualifying scores in SAT-V (now EBRW) or SAT-M, SET will write you a letter of reference.

Oh, and the CB website has administration dates for the SAT Subject tests through the 2018-2019 school year, so I would imagine that they will be around for at least another two years.
