My DSYS15 is in 9th grade. He is very advanced in all the humanities, but (while he's good at them) doesn't have a passion for math and science. He would like to take a summer Algebra II course with a math tutor who could might make math more interesting for him. He's a big believer that a passionate teacher can transfer that to the student, and he very much WANTS to be a math-lover. I recall years ago there being a math tutor that folks here loved -- he worked online. Maybe his name was John? Does this ring any bells for anyone? Just wondering if there might be something I can pursue to help DS.

    Thanks and Happy New Year!

Possibly you are thinking of JonahSinick and Cognito Mentoring? If so, it appears that he has moved on to other pursuits and has not been active on the forum for the past year.

Perhaps it is John Rosasco? No personal experience but heard good things. http://mathandmusicstudio.com/Home_Page.php

I'm a PhD student in math at the University of Cambridge who not too long ago was in the same position as your son. I've tutored many gifted high school students and undergraduates. If you'd like to talk about setting up something for your son, please PM me.

I used Wyzant to find my kids a math tutor in the elementary level locally. They do have tutors for different grades. You may want to check it out. https://www.wyzant.com/

Have you looked into online algebra 2 help courses? Sites like https://www.studypug.com/algebra-2 or https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra2 allow kids to learn at their own accelerated pace and are dissected into small, fun chunks of math learning.
