    Hi,

I'm just curious if it is through norm for a child to have about a 25 point difference from their initial assessment done by a WASI vs. the full scale assessment done by an SB5?

The assesment showed giftedness and now the testing shows slightly above average?

Very confused and could use some input...

    Thanks!

The WASI is a screening instrument, with as few as two subtests. It may be that they happened to be the two strongest skill areas for that child, and when the comprehensive assessment was done, the overall score now drowns out the areas of strength with other areas that are not as strong. How long apart were the tests given, and did the child have a range of scores on the SB5, or were the scores reasonably uniform?

Hi and thank you so much for your response. The range was over about 25 points or so. Is that normal?

And according to the report, they did both the WIAT-III and the SB5. They were with him for a only a few hours over the span of 2 days--is that possible to get all that done?

I'm just perplexed. If he's not, he's not but things just seem odd.
