Wow! That's something that should have gotten more attention in the national press!

Thanks. I would never have known about it without your post! This is an inspiring win and hardly any press coverage has come out for it.

Call me jaded if you will but I am not at all surprised by the lack of coverage.

The (overwhelming majority) liberal press hate the high IQ because they see IQ as a proxy for 'white privilege' and the conservatives obviously want to paint as dark a picture as they can of US scholastic achievements for their own ends too.

Thanks for posting this and sharing :-)

I looked at the names and the backgrounds of the winners in the US team (and their coaches as well) - there are quite a bunch of races there (including at least 1 multi racial kid).

Indeed - light skinned Caucasians were the minority there but that does not and will not ever stop the mainstream press from acting as though IQ is merely a proxy for white privilege.

Enh. The National Spelling Bee gets a ton of coverage every year because it's kind of cute and people can relate to it and understand it. Nobody has any idea what those math problems are about and it doesn't make good TV.

Before assuming it's a conspiracy, look at the journalistic optics.

I read about it on several online sources, including NPR, but I don't watch TV, so I can't say regarding those. Considering the discussions I've read about anti-intellectualism, it doesn't surprise me if mainstream people wouldn't be tuned into something they consider elite and intellectual.
