He asked me about it again today, and I replied as I have in the past that having a diagnoses of asperbergers gives us another tool in our toolkit to help us understand how we can best help him with his emotional issues. I told him about the brilliant people who have recently opened up about their own diagnosis and that it isn't for folks who aren't somehow really special. He is very concerned with not appearing different from other kids, and doesn't like being singled out for any reason. (Even though he works at all academic levels at a 7th+ level he will point out that he is in the 5th grade, nothing more, and was surprised to learn that he is gifted, "I knew I'm a little smart but am I really "Gifted?"")
