I have no idea what happened except that he must have spoken to other kids in his class that are also testing for the gifted program. Just spoke with the TD coordinator who told me DS was anxious during the entire test, asking for a break and kept repeating how he had to get into the gifted program. I actually kept very quiet about what he was testing for, not wanting for him to panic, so I guess that backfired on me. I don't have results yet, but the KTII and WISC were all positive. UGH. He is 7.

How frustrating! Poor little guy! My best advice is to give him a big hug and tell him you love him. The rest is watch-and-wait.

As I understand it, the SB5 has sub-test sections in batches. With the WISC, things can discontinue fairly snappily. If your kid has some perfectionism (which can be a bit innate or just the result of never being challenged by tests) then hitting his level early in a batch could mean he is facing like four or five more questions beyond his abilities which can be pretty stressful. A smart kid may also know when they are wrong without knowing what the right answer is.

I assume the KTEA-II, a comprehensive achievement test, recently replaced by the KTEA-III?

I'm sorry that happened to him!

I kept quiet too, so you aren't the only one. frown
Best of luck to your family.
