    I think I might have had too much identifying info in my original post. Anyway, I think what I really wanted to ask was, for those who have gone through the process of an assessment to look for ADHD or other challenges, did you find the assessment process beneficial? Did it help you tailor your parenting or help the school tailor their management plans?

    Understanding a child's challenges helps parents both in their own parenting of that child, and to advocate for meaningful educational supports. There are other threads discussing this topic as the value of testing comes up rather frequently.

    The websites of wrightslaw and NCLD, and the book From Emotions to Advocacy may all provide insight for effective steps parents can take after receiving test results which indicate a learning disability.
