DD6 is asking for her very own, proper, dictionary, not a website. She's hoovering up HP at the moment, which I suspect is the catalyst. I don't think she needs the unabridged OED, but the children's dictionaries I've looked at don't seem sufficiently expansive. Any recommendations?

YMMV, but I'm pretty happy with the American Heritage Student Dictionary. Have you looked at that one?

Thanks, I'll have a look at it. So far I've only reviewed the ones DS8 has received with his school supplies the last two years (very short versions of Collins). I was hoping to avoid an investigative trip to the book store by asking here!

We have a Random House unabridged, not that new. DS7 finds it satisfying to think it has "all the words"...
