My son took the STAR reading test yesterday. He saw his scaled score but the parents won't get a parent report unless the need to discuss interventions with the parent. So if you are on grade or above it is like no news is good news.

I am too curious. I can ask his teacher next week I am going to see her for something else but I want to know now.

They give a scaled score 1-1400 and test reading from k-12. I searched the renlearn.com website but couldn't find any kind of chart to look the score up on.

How can I figure out how to interpret his score?

I think you are talking about AR (accelerated reading) STAR test. Hope this helps.

Found a technical manual at http://www.cc.cnyric.org/library/Accelrated_Reader/SRRPTechnicalManual.pdf

So, the score has the same meaning no matter what grade. A table in there gives scaled scores with means and standard deviations by grade from their norm group:

    Grade Mean Standard deviation
    1 216 95
    2 339 115
    3 419 128
    4 490 152
    5 652 176
    6 785 222
    7 946 228
    8 958 285
    9 967 301
    10 1,079 292
    11 1,031 310
    12 1,157 299

On page 84 of your link I found out exactly what I was looking for (plus some of the other charts had very good information).

    Thank you
