I've been trying to search without success, so I apologize if this is a duplicate post (I'm new).

My daughter, who is 8, loves writing and language. I have seen many posts about math competitions and have seen options for geography competitions, spelling competitions, etc.

What opportunities are there for young writers? I am interested in competitions, opportunities to submit work for possible publications, etc.

Duke TIP offers a writing contest, but I believe you have to be in 4th grade and be accepted into the program.

She's in 4th grade because of acceleration. I will look into that. Thank you very much for the suggestion!

PoeticPower has several competitions a year for both poetry and essays, starting at Kindergarten. My daughter loves to write too, and has enjoyed these competitions. http://www.poeticpower.com/
