Honestly, looking for a place to vent.

Had parent/ teacher meeting this am. Teacher says she differentiates a lot in the classroom for reading. Asked about gt program and gt pull out. She acted sort of taken aback. (We just had a district meeting a month ago which the teacher attended.) We ended up asked her if she was going to recommend him, because we have WISC and achievement scores that say he needs more.

In the end, she said yes, she would recommend him, because of his level of reading and enthusiasm to learn and motivation. She also mentioned all the "connections" he makes between things. Yet, there felt like there was a "but". All she said is if he doesn't get in this year, it will be 2 more years.

I then wrote the gt coordinator about what we needed to do and how those programs work. He was very brief.

I hope all this will soon be behind us. Why is it so hard to get what my ds6 needs? We have test results. He has test results from school. I feel like we must be doing something wrong. Or then I started thinking, is it because he's not very mathy? (He likes math word problems, but not straight up computation.) I just want him happy and given the opportunity to continue to grow. Hope all this effort on my part will start paying off!

Thanks for "listening". Thoughts and/ or advice always welcome:)

You must be doing something right, that his enthusiasm has remained intact.

Maybe she believes she is doing an excellent job and is actually trying hard?
