2e, 9 y.o. dd. had WISC-IV today. Last time she took WISC was just over three years ago. Last time GAI 147, one subtest 19, 3 17s, did not run extended scoring.

Tester said that dd completed all of the block tests, but that tester had to eliminate some of the blocks because our dd went outside of the allotted time. Tester also said dd did poorly on the common sense subtest.

My question is: how will this affect her overall score? Also, five hours were scheduled, but dd only took four hours. Does this mean a lower score?

    Thanks.

The older children get the harder it is for 2E kids to perform the block design task at a "gifted" speed compared to other children - so even if the child is able to complete all the block designs, if they are not fast enough then they won't get the maximum points available. This is a common issue in kids with low processing speed when doing the block design test.

The Comprehension subtest, which I am assuming was what she meant by "common sense" is also often a bit lower in 2e kids, particularly kids with ASD.

These will impact her score, but they might have done so last time as well. I would not panic yet. How long the test took is probably not indicative of how well your child will do, some children finish very fast because they are very gifted, some finish fast because they really are not... There is no clear rule there!
