My daughter has had numerous issues since the first day of Kindergarten (she's in 3rd grade now). As part of LD testing for math, she was given the K-BIT 2 and the Woodcock-Johnson III C.
I've always suspected that she was advanced in Language Arts, and the only time she's shown spontaneous improvement in her behavior at school is when I've independently gotten her more challenging reading material than what the school was pushing on her. Her Kaufman scores were 93% for Verbal, 82% for Nonverbal, and 92% for Composite. Her W-J scores were 94% for Brief Reading, 86% for Written Expression, and 92% for Brief Achievement. I'm having trouble finding our state's requirements for "giftedness" beyond teacher recommendation and/or standardized test scores, and was wondering if her new test scores are enough to push for some in-class enrichment beyond what she is already getting in her advanced placement LA class. I don't think skipping a grade is necessarily appropriate, but she definitely needs harder spelling words, and harder books to read.
TIA,
Jennifer
