Has anyone been using Adaptedmind for math? I just signed up for the free trial for my DS6 and was curious if anyone else had any feedback.

I haven't tried it but I think I might. I like that it says it is adaptive. DS6 (kinder) definitely needs something more.

    Interesting.

I have often wished that my son could click through from Aleks to Khan Academy, especially in cases where I find the Aleks "explain" feature overly light on underlying principles (sorry, explaining that angles are right at 90, acute below and obtuse above does *not* give a real understanding of the issue).

I didn't know somebody else had licensed (?) the Khan videos for that very purpose...

With my own kinder we are doing Dreambox, which covers most of the K-3 curriculum in a very fun, game-like way and with lots of virtual manipulatives. My kids love it. The biggest drawback: no instruction provided in-game. So you have to do it on the side, or plug in the right (again!) Khan lectures.

I *do* like the Khan Academy lectures for basic subjects because they are well thought, provide context for the material taught, and slow down for the harder stuff (I have always been very bad at explaining things that come easy to me, which would cover most math up to moderately advanced college level).
