I'm just after some advice on my sons IQ test.

He got a FSIQ score of 103 but he scored 152+ for the GLC. We & his psychologist are confused by these results & I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on these results.

Could they mean he is 2E?

Do you have sub test scores? Or at least index scores? Can you share a little bit about what led to the testing?

I know his verbal was 109 & the next one which I think was processing was 100. I don't have the full report yet.

Ok some background! James' teacher said that he was behaving poorly in class (first year of school) & she found his behaviour unmanageable & wanted to engage the school counsellor - we decided we would prefer an independent assessment. After meeting with the child psychologist she indicated that it could be ADHD and/or gifted & talented. James also had indications of anxiety. We decided to get an IQ test done. James also displays perfectionism tendencies. The psych said that the GLC score indicates that his input is high but he is unable to demonstrate what he has learnt - hope that makes sense??

Another thing to note is that despite James being bright & able to pick up most things with minimal teaching he is behind in his reading ability. His maths is excellent though.

Any concerns about hearing loss, frequent ear infections, etc? Consider getting an audiology exam, which is better than the one at the doctor's office.

Nope none of those. He had his hearing tested earlier in the year & it was perfect.

Psych said she thinks it is a visual processing issue?

It could be that he's just a little young to draw hard conclusions on a test like this.

Yeah I was thinking that - the other thing I was thinking - is it possible that he is 2E? With such a variation in the results?

I've read that you can't really diagnose ADD/ADHD until at least age 9. Similarly, alot of LD might be identified early or also later. Maybe just sit tight and retest in a year. He's very young!

Ok thanks for that. Im just looking at ways to help him at school & perhaps he is just a bit immature for testing so will need to do it down the track.
